Welcome to Life, Uncorked! This is my new blog about all things wine, food, travel, and living the expat life in a small German town. I'll be posting wine reviews, introducing new, beautiful and exciting wines that crosses my path, interesting places to visit and travel around the Blackforest area of Germany (and beyond), and great food finds!

I started writing about food and wine nearly 15 years ago, fresh out of University, for a lifestyle magazine in Malaysia that has since ceased to exist. My career as a writer brought me from one publication to another, one country to another, with the pinnacle being an Editor for a Hospitality magazine in New Zealand, which I helped develop from scratch (that still exists today!).

Home is now a small town in the Blackforest region of Germany, where I live with my husband, two little boys and an imaginary dog named Bailey who keeps me company for the most part of the day. While I'm no longer working with magazines, writing is still a passion of mine - and how I make sense of the world around me. And because being a SAHM can be a little dull (although hectic) at times, I've continued to develop my passion in wine*, working during events for a specialty wine store in Baden-Baden, hosting my own wine-tastings at home, and tasting (for research purpose of course) as many different wines as possible in my spare time.

*Just as a side note, I studied and completed with Merit the WSET Level 3 at the New Zealand School of Food and Wine a few years ago. While that doesn't make me an expert, I do have quite a bit of experience with tasting and writing about wines (just in case you needed any assurance!).
